Valentines Schmalentines

I know what you all are thinking: "Lizz, surely you have an extremely wonderful and sexy Japanese Valentines Day planned with your fiance." Well I'm sorry to disappoint you, my friends, but the bethrothed and I don't really celebrate VDay. We will however go out in Tokyo for some sashimi, but that is only to appease our 2 week sushi craving. It's not that Fiance and I are not romantic, we just prefer to be romantic when the rest of the world isn't. Perhaps it's my non-conformist streak.

Admittedly, however, I celebrate many a holiday with the rest of the world, but I most ardently celebrate the drinking holidays: St Pattys Day, New Years, Mardi Gras, Christmas...

I remember being a little Lizz back in elementary school with my Lisa Frank (remember that stuff?) or My Little Pony Valentine cards.... I only wanted to give them to my friends, my real Valentines, but the teacher made everyone give a Valentine to everyone in the class to promote camaraderie or whatever. I think that's where the mild VDay disdain began, when it seemed forced. Don't force it, folks.

So to you - all my Jelly Blog followers and readers - I bid YOU a Happy Valentines Day. I do not judge you for partaking in VDay, whether with a newfound or a long-time love. I don't judge you for buying the chocolates or the flowers or the sexy lingerie or jewelry. (Although I do judge you just a little bit if you buy those stuffed teddy bears holding the heart that says 'Be Mine' or whatever because let's face it, you keep those things around max. 2 weeks and then trash 'em because nobody wants a lot of dollar store love lying around the house into March.)

Here are my Valentines sentiments for you, expertly expressed by the people at SomeEcards...

Hugs for you today. Big ones.  <3

I think you're full of you know what and if Casey set up a date or got you a present to celebrate you would be all over it.....

  2. Chrisser, of course I would love it! Anything he does for me on his own pumps me up!

  3. These cards are fantastic. The best way to celebrate a valentine’s day. Thank you for sharing this with us. I am glad you did. Keep posting.
