The Hat Sells

Bonjour Jellies! I know you haven't heard from me in over a week, but Yes I am alive. I hope you weren't scared like that time I was in an earthquake...

The truth is that I was on vacation at the Texas coast with 12 of my closest friends for my Bachelorette party! We had a blasty blast, and every day I thank my lucky stars that my friends are my friends. No, I will not be posting party pics on my blog, but here's a teaser for you anyway...

That's yours truly on top in the veil. Why lay around on the beach when you could be building human pyramids?!

So remember my favorite hat from the Royal Wedding post? You know, Princess Beatrice's (the Queen's granddaughter) beige silk bow hat by Philip Treacy?

Well Bea put the hat up for auction on eBay to raise money for UNICEF and Children in Crisis. The thing sold for about $131,648. Yowza! (You'd think that for that much money, the hat could at least do something cool like have a built-in navigation system or pour you a beer).

If you didn't watch that episode of Project Runway or you don't know who famous hatter Philip Treacy is, check out his website. You'll be blown away by his body of work. Maybe one day soon I'll do a post on my favorite hats of his.

And to close, I leave you with a coupling of my favorite images which until now sat patiently in a Favorite Things image archive of mine...

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to start my new book The Art of Racing in the Rain. It's written from the perspective of a dog. It's going to be a tear-jerker, isn't it? ...

~  Sending light and positive energy to all of the folks in Joplin, Missouri today.  ~
