If you love simple yet flavorful and healthy ingredients, you'll love my recipe:
STEP 1: Begin by marinating the raw beef steak cubes. Here I made my own marinade of olive oil, sea salt and pepper, and my favorite Cajun seasoning Tony Chachere's.
STEP 2: Soak your wooden kabob skewers in water so that they do not splinter when you load them.
STEP 3: Half some mushrooms and cut a yellow onion into large pieces.
STEP 4: Cut fresh red and green bellpeppers into chunks.
STEP 5: Alternate the veggies and beef cubes on the wooden skewer.
(I don't eat the onions, I just use them for flavor)
STEP 6: Grill 'em up! If you're like us and don't have a grill, use a greased grill pan.
STEP 7: Employ a willing kabob turner. I used my tall and handsome Hubs. Turning the kabobs in the pan (or on the grill) insures that you cook all sides of the meat thoroughly.
Like true Texans, we prefer our steak cooked medium rare.
STEP 8 (optional) : we needed a starch for the meal, so I whipped up some yummy cornbread. The best brand is Jiffy in the blue box. All you need is a little milk, an egg, and about 15 minutes to bake.
If I can make this meal, pretty much anyone can! Kabobs are easy, they just require a bit o' prep time. Feel free to mix and match with other grillable veggies and different marinades. Enjoy!
