Sledding is Fun

The severity of our Dakota winter is taking it's toll on me... am I starting to enjoy the snow?

$3.00 kids' saucer sleds from Target... check!

My sister shooting down a hill...

And crashing.

If this looks freezing, it's because it is.
But getting out there and playing in the snow made it much more bearable!

The Oscars 2012

The Academy Awards always make for such a magical night. I completely relish watching beautiful and talented people be recognized for their accomplishments in the film industry.

While my favorite category is of course Costume Design, I can't help but gaze in awe at the gorgeous gals who walk the red carpet in designer gowned glory.

My Top 10 Best Dressed Ladies at the Oscars :

#1  Emma Stone wearing Giambattista Valli

#2  Milla Jovovich wearing Elie Saab Couture
Perfect with the punchy red lip too.

#3  Jessica Chastain wearing Alexander McQueen

#4  Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford
She looks like an elegant Greek statue.

#5  Leslie Mann wearing Roberto Cavalli
I love this couple!

#6  Rose Byrne wearing Vivienne Westwood

 #7 Nancy O'Dell in Chagoury Couture (?)
I dig the combination of canary yellow and steely grey embroidery.

#8 Viola Davis in Vera Wang
She was stunning with her matching emerald green earrings.

#9 Natalie Portman wearing Vintage Christian Dior

#10 Angelina Jolie wearing black velvet Atelier Versace
Showing off that leg and smiling all night, you could tell she felt sexy.

The 2012 Academy Awards show was so well-produced, it was one of the best Oscars I've seen.
I'd love to know your #1 pick for Best Dressed!

Pastels & Free People

It's been snowing for two straight days in Bismarck. Not the cute Christmas card kind of snow, but the teen temperatures, windy and gusty, kick you in the face kind of snow. This is what I wore yesterday:

While my body is in winter wonderland, my mind is looking forward to spring and sun. I loved the images from the Free People lookbook. Model Martha Hunt shines in pale pastels and light, airy textures with a bohemian flair:

February Snowman

My sister Zan came to Dakota to visit me! We had a pretty big snow yesterday, so extreme measures had to be taken...

We built a snowman!

It's funny how creative you can get with food in your fridge. Eyes are chocolate chips, mouth is a yellow squash, and the nose is a zucchini.

Isn't she cute?
Thanks for making the treck up north to visit us, Zan!

Skiing in Montana

It is easy to see why Montana is called big sky country. It is my Hubby's favorite state, and now that we've had the opportunity to visit it together, I can see why!

We had a few free days away from Hubby's basketball team, so we decided to take a ski trip in Red Lodge, Montana. It's a quirky little town with friendly folks and some seriously sweet skiing.

Rentals... check!

I'm pretty sure I was given children's skis...

We brought along our friend Andrew who was a great ski coach and trail guide.

We sampled the local brews at the ski lodge.

And played in the snow...

Thank you for an amazing time, Red Lodge! We'll never forget the trip.

Be My Gal-entine

Happy Day of Love from Jelly Blog

The Hubby and I don't celebrate Valentines Day, but here are some lovely and irreverent sentiments from our friends at SomeEcards.com:

Now go eat lots of those chalky candy hearts with words on them!  XOXO
