Big Hats & Horses

If the Derby is the king of races, The Oaks race (the day before) is it's sweeter little sister. Thanks to a friend from college, we had fabulous seats in which to sit and show off our big hats.

I wore my new pleated coral dress with a pink ruffle on the bottom (on Oaks day, many people wear pink - even the men). I found a great beige hat, then added a coral flower to match.
Accessorized with a turquoise necklace of my mom-in-law's and beige wedges.

Didn't the girls look gorgeous? Joni wore a blue and white dress, then made her own hat to match. Amy wore a pretty floral dress, a lavender cardigan, and borrowed an orange sunhat. Both ladies have lovely style.

Picking my filly for the race...
Dig my nail color? It's a turquoise called Mermaids Tears by OPI.

My horse didn't win, but it's a great 2 minutes of athletic excellence to watch!

If you like wearing hats (and who doesnt?) and Southern tradition coupled with fun, classy people, I recommend attending The Oaks and the Kentucky Derby once in your life.

  1. I totally agree about people needing to go to The Oaks and Derby at least once in their lives. It is SO much fun!

And everyone looked adorable. I am not a new follower - but I think that this might be my first comment!

  2. Beautiful dresses!

Come and check out the dresses we have on our site! We have lots of new arrivals!
