Full of Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving!  Make today about counting your many blessings.

I am thankful for :

My family, supporting and encouraging from afar.
My husband, for loving me despite all my eccentricities.
My amazing friends, keeping tabs on me wherever on the globe I happen to be.
The servicemen and women, fearlessly fighting so that I may feel safe.
The roof over my head and the food in my belly.
Clothes. And shoes.
Professional basketball for being so good to us thus far.
My car AKA 'Old Green' which is still running somehow.
Blog Readers!

Share with me what you're thankful for. Whether big or tiny blessings,
none are too small to appreciate today!

Friendsgiving Attire

Sweater weather, pumpkin-scented everything, and Thanksgiving right around the corner... what a marvelous time of year! Due to the nature of my hubby's job, we generally celebrate 'Friendsgiving' instead of the traditional family meal. So I performed a some digital styling of how I might dress myself for the occasion:

Angora Sweater from TopShop | Illizi Booties by BCBG | Tortoise Prepster Glasses from NastyGal
Midi Kilt Skirt from ASOS

Plaid Trousers by Mango | Knit Cropped Sweater from TopShop | Sway Pumps by Charles David
Velveteen Hair Bow from XXI | Poplin Button-Up Shirt from Zara layered under sweater

What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year?

The Beach in Autumn

Here I am at the beach...

Just kidding, it's a spread from Elle Russia magazine. But it could be me at the beach because model Britt Maren looks just like me (not at all) and this is exactly how I dress when I go catch some rays (nope).

Looking like a Hitchcock heroine in this high fashion story, the model dons exciting Fall pieces in a retro-chic manner. Enjoy my her photo spread styled by Daria Anichkina and shot by Koray Birand:

L'artiste Amy Judd

I look for artistic inspiration wherever I can, and the work of London-based artist Amy Judd provided me oodles of it. Her paintings are about the relationship between women and birds or nature as seen in traditional folklore and mythology. Judd's pieces are rendered with such delicacy of detail and painterly sensitivity. They are a must-see:

Perfect petals, flawless feathers and superb skin? All subjects that I have personally found very tricky to paint.

A Winter Doll

Are you loving that chill in the air? Fall is here welcoming cozy sweater weather! In this beautiful fashion spread from Vogue Japan, model Lindsey Wixson dons something a bit heavier than a simple sweater. I love the heavy prints, brocade textiles, and stockings-with-Mary Janes pairing. And the rouged cheeks, crowns, bows and ruffles give Wixson a captivating doll-ish quality.

If anyone can identify the backdrop of this shoot - the brick and limestone palace - please share!

Autumn Treats

I found a new recipe on my AllRecipes app for Cranberry Pumpkin Muffins. So I gave it a whirl, and it did not disappoint! These little Fall-friendly muffins are so scrumptious and perfect warmed up for breakfast with a bit of butter on top.

2 eggs
2 cups white sugar
1 cup pumpkin
1/2 cup oil
2 tablespoons orange zest
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups fresh cranberries, halved
* I didn't have orange zest or pumpkin pie spice, but I substituted with a teaspoon of nutmeg and a sprinkling of cinnamon on top of each muffin. I used organic pumpkin and Smart Balance oil.

You can find this delicious Cranberry Pumpkin Muffin recipe HERE at AllRecipes.com.

And look! I baked these autumn inspired brownie cupcakes for my last week at work. In the batter, I used Dark Fudge brownie mix then added mint extract and dark chocolate chips. Uh, YUM.
